Post-Judgment Issues in Family Law 2024

Product ID: CA3640R7
Presented By: State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE

This program is an excerpt from Handling a Basic Divorce 2024.

Post-judgment day

Due to the nature of custody, placement, and child support issues, parents may find it necessary to return to the court to request modifications to prior orders in their divorce case. But the rules that apply to post-judgment matters in divorce are different from the rules that the parties have encountered previously.

Join family law attorney Christopher S. Krimmer for Post-Judgment Issues in Family Law for practical advice on addressing post-judgment questions and find out what to do if a motion is filed against your client. You’ll learn about:

  • The legal requirements for modifying custody, placement, child support, and maintenance within the first two years post-judgment and beyond
  • The process and standards for relocation modifications
  • The standard for modifying child support and maintenance based on a “substantial change in circumstances”
  • Conditions under which property division awards may be reopened, such as mistake or fraud
  • Actions that constitute contempt of court and requirements for purge conditions
