Ins and Outs of the False Claims Act 2021

Product ID: CA3164R6
Presented By: State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE

Protecting the federal treasury

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Congress has distributed trillions of COVID-19 relief dollars to the American people — and more aid is likely on the way. However, as history tells us, whenever the government dispenses substantial relief funding, there’s a heightened risk of money misappropriation.1

At Ins and Outs of the False Claims Act, Nina G. Beck and Sean O’D. Bosack of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. will explain how an Act adopted during the U.S. Civil War still serves as the federal government’s primary fraud-enforcement tool.

You will learn:

  • The origins of the False Claims Act (FCA)
  • The current status of FCA actions
  • Ways to help companies mitigate the risks of fraud allegations
  • Four defenses for FCA actions
  • The fundamentals of settlements
