William D. Goren is an attorney and consultant specializing in ADA compliance since 1990. Based in Decatur, GA, he runs William D. Goren, J.D., LL.M. LLC and authors the blog Understanding the ADA (an ABA Top 100 Blog from 2014-2018). His practice provides consulting, training, and representation on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Rehabilitation Act, the Air Carrier Access Act, the Fair Housing Act, and related laws.
Deaf since birth with a bilateral hearing loss of 70-120+ decibels, Mr. Goren brings to his work a deep personal understanding of what it means to have a disability. His leadership roles include membership in multiple American Bar Association (ABA) committees, such as the Legal Technology Resource Center Board, and various Federal Bar Association (FBA) committees, including serving as Chair of the FBA Disability Best Practices Working Group since 2022. Under his leadership, the group developed an accessibility manual for FBA chapters and is preparing a similar guide for federal courts, set for release in June 2025. He is also a member of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Bar Association.
