Integrating Principles of Effective Intervention into Batterer Intervention Treatment 2023

Product ID: CA3480R4
Presented By: State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE

The best course of action

When determining child placement, Wisconsin law1 creates a presumption that a parent who commits domestic violence isn’t entitled to custody. In these cases, the courts may recommend or require the offending parent to attend a “certified” batterer intervention treatment program as a condition of obtaining or maintaining custody. But what is a certified batterer intervention treatment program?

At Integrating Principles of Effective Intervention into Batterer Intervention Treatment, Dr. Tara N. Richards will outline the qualities of a strong batterer intervention program and discuss examples of successful correctional programming. A national leader in the field of batterer treatment evaluation, Dr. Richards will explain how to identify whether a program should qualify as “certified” treatment. You’ll explore the history behind batterer treatment programs and gain a better understanding of the risks, needs, and treatment methods involved in effective intervention.
