David Eckhardt is a partner in the Milwaukee office of Husch Blackwell, where he is a member of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation team. Mr. Eckhardt focuses his practice on matters related to employee benefits, executive compensation, and taxation. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Economics, his law degree from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law cum laude, and his L.L.M. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law in Taxation with honors, where he earned the Chicago Bar Association’s Outstanding Tax Student Award. Mr. Eckhardt has been honored by the Wisconsin Law Journal as an Up and Coming Lawyer, was selected as a 40 Under 40 member by the Milwaukee Business Journal, was recognized in Chambers USA 2023, and was named in Best Lawyers in America for 2024.
John B. Tuffnell has 25 years of experience litigating contract and business disputes, insurance matters, ERISA and employee benefit claims, and health care reimbursement issues. He represents businesses and individuals in contract and tort claims, including policyholders seeking coverage under insurance policies or employee benefit plans. John has counseled clients and litigated ERISA and employee benefits cases in many areas, including life, health, and disability benefits, ESOP valuation disputes, COBRA rights and penalties, and severance and retirement disputes. He has extensive experience in federal court in health insurance and health care payment disputes, including class actions. John also represents licensed individuals involved in administrative actions before state and federal regulators, including the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, the Department of Financial Institutions, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
