Product ID: CA3514M
Presented By: State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE

Co-produced with the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin

When emotions run high

When family ties start to unravel, things can get complicated quickly. Clients with complex family law matters need attorneys who can resolve differences or reach compromises between people with very different goals, emotions, and motives. Advanced Skills and Techniques for Family Law Practice is designed to give you effective strategies for advising clients and achieving results in high-stakes family law cases.

Collateral damage

Battles over child custody and placement can result in unintended harmful impacts to children caught in the middle. Develop a plan to manage custody issues in LGBTQ+ families that minimizes adverse consequences for the children involved. You’ll get answers to questions about intricate LGBTQ+ family concerns, including:

  • What does it mean to be “trans” or “gender non-conforming”?
  • What does the research tell us about trans children, gender-affirming care, and mental health?
  • What is the court likely to do in situations involving gender-related custodial disputes between parents?

Meaningful CLE!

By Ginger Murray on 10/4/2023

Format: Webcast seminar

The panel presentation/discussion on Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Kids in Family Court was a well balanced mix of information from someone who has been through it, mental health professionals, the doctors who help with hormone/surgery when appropriate, and legal professionals all sharing information about how to help a community of people who are at great risk of being a victim of crimes, homeless, and/or engaging in self-harm if they can't get the help/resources/support they need. It was sensitve information that was eye-opening and thought provoking that ended with hope and plans for a better way to help our clients.
