The 2022-2023 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • Discussions of recent Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals opinions on a variety of topics, including standards of review, stays pending appeal, and administrative appeals
  • Amendments to the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s previously revised interim rule governing procedures for electronic filing of documents in that court
  • Revised annotations to sample court forms for use in the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals

In addition, other materials in the book’s appendices, including a list of contact information for circuit court clerks, have also been updated.

The 2020-2021 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • Updates concerning procedural changes for filing documents electronically in the appellate courts
  • Discussions of recent Wisconsin Supreme Court opinions on a variety of topics, such as waiver, mootness, and ineffective-assistance-of-counsel claims
  • A Wisconsin Supreme Court order that removed a previous requirement of identifying (by name and State Bar number) attorneys who provide assistance in limited-scope-representation cases
  • Marsy’s Law, which amended the Wisconsin Constitution, providing victims with the right to file petitions for supervisory relief to obtain review of adverse decisions concerning their rights

The supplement also updates the book’s appendices, adding references to recent appellate opinions, discussing standards of review, updating contact information for the court of appeals and circuit court clerks, and incorporating the latest amendments to the Wisconsin Rules of Appellate Procedure.

The 2019–20 revision includes a number of changes, including:

  • Discussions of recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decisions on matters such as supervisory writs and inherent authority of the courts
  • Additions of citations to recent Wisconsin Court of Appeals opinions in cases involving judicial substitution, mootness, and finality, among other issues
  • Legislative developments concerning electronic service of certain documents and legislative intervention in litigation involving statutory challenges
  • Revisions to the chapters on appeals in criminal cases and from administrative proceedings, based on suggestions from reviewers from the State Public Defender’s Office and the Wisconsin Division of Hearings & Appeals

The revision also replaces all the book’s appendices, adding references to recent appellate opinions discussing standards of review and updating the format and content of the sample court forms, as well as revising annotations to the forms.
