The March 2024 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • New casenotes for Wisconsin Court of Appeals decisions, addressing topics such as de novo hearings and contempt
  • The reprinted text of redlined rules changes affecting Wisconsin’s child support guidelines, amended as part of a federally mandated quadrennial review, effective January 1, 2024
  • Revised casenotes that include new editors’ notes pertaining to developments in the newly amended child support guidelines

 

The January 2023 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • Three new casenotes for Wisconsin Court of Appeals opinions that addressed topics such as modification of physical placement, marital settlement agreements, and property division
  • A new casenote for a U.S. Supreme Court case involving the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and the International Child Abduction Remedies Act

·        Updated Editors’ Notes, reflecting recent amendments to cited Wisconsin Statutes and Wisconsin Administrative Code provisions

The July 2021 supplement strong>includes a number of changes such as:

  • A new casenote for a Wisconsin Supreme Court opinion, reversing a Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision, which analyzed the application of a statute of repose to a motion for contempt stemming from an underlying divorce judgment entered more than 20 years earlier
  • Four new Wisconsin Court of Appeals opinions, discussing topics such as property division, modification of child support, and contempt
  • Six revised casenotes, updated to incorporate subsequent history and to reflect recent legislation that allows parties to stipulate to modifications of legal custody or physical placement “upon the occurrence of a specified future event”

In addition, the index and tables have been updated to incorporate the new and revised casenotes.

The January 2021 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • Five casenotes for new Wisconsin Court of Appeals opinions, discussing topics such as the reopening of a voluntary acknowledgment of paternity; special concerns in cases involving an incarcerated parent; consideration of undistributed business income in determining child support; and contempt in cases involving grandparental visitation
  • Five revised casenotes, updated to reflect subsequent history and to add newly available citation information

The August 2020 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • A casenote for a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court opinion, arising out of a family law case, addressing an allegation of judicial bias
  • A new casenote for a published Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision, analyzing the application of a statute of repose to a motion for contempt stemming from an underlying divorce judgment entered more than 20 years earlier
  • Three casenotes for additional Wisconsin Court of Appeals opinions, discussing topics such as modification of child custody and placement; earning capacity considerations in setting child support and maintenance; and the enforceability of a marital property agreement
  • Four revised casenotes, updated to reflect subsequent history and to add newly available citation information

In addition, the index and tables have been updated to incorporate the new and revised casenotes.

The May 2020 supplement includes a number of changes such as:

  • A new Wisconsin Supreme Court opinion discussing constructive trusts
  • Three new Wisconsin Court of Appeals decisions addressing topics such as contempt, child support, and guardian ad litem fees
  • A new U.S. Supreme Court opinion in a case involving an international child custody dispute
  • The addition of the full text of two recent federal bankruptcy decisions of interest to family law attorneys

The supplement also includes revised opinions with updated notes explaining recent legislative amendments that concern the use of genetic testing in making paternity determinations.

Please note: No new casenotes were issued or revised since the July 2019 supplement,therefore, a third supplement was not issued in 2019.

  • A new casenote for a Wisconsin Supreme Court opinion, issued in 2019, interpreting the constitutionality of Wisconsin’s grandparent visitation statute, and two revised casenotes with updated Editors’ Notes reflecting the prior cases’ modification and clarification by the supreme court’s 2019 opinion
  • Five new casenotes for Wisconsin Court of Appeals decisions, addressing topics such as maintenance, property division, case-closure orders, constructive trusts, and judicial bias
  • A reprint of a corrective amendment to the child support guidelines, effective July 1, 2019
