The 2024–25 revision includes a number of updates such as:

  • The Wisconsin Legislature has amended the Wisconsin Marital Property Act to clarify the classification rules for spouses’ online accounts and the digital property in those accounts
  • Wis. Stat. § 766.58(13) has been amended to include statutes of limitations for the commencement of an action concerning a marital property agreement in situations in which a spouse has died and no estate administration proceeding has been filed
  • Chapter 4 now features two new forms, a sample Affidavit of Assets, Liabilities, and Income, and a sample Abridgment of Marital Property Agreement
  • The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin has issued a decision, affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, concerning creditors’ access to worker’s compensation benefits for the purpose of satisfying medical debts of a spouse

In addition, former chapters 2 and 3 have been consolidated into one chapter, and that chapter has been reorganized and reworked; and all chapters have been updated to reflect legal developments that have occurred since publication of the 2018–19 fifth edition.
