My CLE Tracker FAQ

What is My CLE Tracker?

WisBar offers a convenient way for members of the State Bar to track their CLE seminar attendance in one place. Here you can view and edit your history of CLE credits attended through the State Bar and add seminar CLE credits attended through other providers. Go to myCLE Tracker.

Using this tool to track your CLE seminars can help expedite completing CLE Form 1, the form you must file biennially with the Board of Bar Examiners to report your CLE compliance.

You may also use the printable CLE credit listing to print and attach to your Form 1 filing with the Board of Bar Examiners. It is your responsibility that this report is accurate and completed with all CLE information required by the BBE.

What CLE is tracked?

CLE Tracker tracks both PINNACLE sponsored and self-reported CLE.

PINNACLE sponsored CLE

Approved PINNACLE sponsored CLE includes CLE approved by the Board of Bar Examiners and validated attendance by the State Bar.

Pending PINNACLE sponsored CLE includes all existing registrations for State Bar CLE events pending Board of Bar Examiners approval and to be validated. CLE for pending events are estimates of credits and are not final until the Board of Bar Examiners approves.

Self-reported CLE

If you would like CLE not sponsored by the State Bar to appear in my CLE Tracker, you must enter that CLE manually. In addition to CLE and EPR from attendance, you can report other credits, such as GAL, or those earned from speaking or teaching, and legal writing.

How do I view my CLE history?

To access your CLE history, log in, if you have not already done so. (You will find Log In section at the top of WisBar.) Once you've logged in, go to myCLETracker (found at the top of WisBar).

To view your CLE seminar and credit details, choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then click the View/edit button.

Here, you can view all your approved and pending PINNACLE sponsored CLE, as well as self-reported CLE, which is CLE that was not sponsored by the State Bar.

How is new CLE added?

PINNACLE sponsored CLE is automatically added to your CLE Tracker. CLE first displays as Pending CLE Credits until the Board of Bar Examiners has approved the CLE, usually within 30 days of the event or within 10 days of BBE approval past the event. CLE will then move to Approved CLE Credits when it is validated.

PINNACLE sponsored CLE OnDemand is typically added to your history 24 hours after viewing.

You must manually enter CLE not sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin as self-reported CLE, if you would like it to appear in CLE Tracker.

What CLE details are available for State Bar sponsored events?

PINNACLE sponsored CLE automatically adds the maximum achievable CLE and EPR credits available to an attendee for the seminar event, once the credits have been approved. If you did not achieve the full credits (i.e. did not attend the full event), you may edit your credits for that item (see ‘How do I edit CLE?’ for details).

The State Bar does not track or report GAL credits or other credit types (i.e. out of state credits) for any events that might have been approved for these other credits. If you wish to track your other CLE types you may do this by adding a new self-reported CLE and using the ‘Other Credits’ option.

What CLE do I need to add manually?

If you attend a course that has been approved for credit by the Board of Bar Examiners, but the State Bar did not sponsor, this CLE must be manually created as self-reported CLE.

Any approved courses you have taught will need to be entered in as self-reported CLE, separately from your attendance. Any Board of Bar Examiners approved authoring credits will need to be entered in as self-reported CLE. See ‘How do I enter in Teaching/Speaker or approved Authoring CLE?’ below for details.

How do I add new self-reported CLE?

To create self-reported CLE:

  • First choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then select the View/edit button.
  • In the Self-reported CLE section, press the 'Create new' button.
  • Enter the title, the date and location of the CLE event attended.
  • Enter the sponsor name, select the type of sponsor they are, and your participant type.
  • Enter in any CLE and/or EPR hours that you attended in the CLE and EPR Attended fields. CLE credits include EPR credits so the CLE credit amount must be equal to or greater than the EPR credit amount.
  • If you're entering in GAL hours, enter in the credit total in the ‘Other hours’. Then in the ‘Type of other hours’ be sure to specify whether the GAL is GAL Adult, GAL Minor, or GAL Family. You may also track other credits types using the ‘Other hours’ entries. If multiple items for other credits you will need to enter in the event multiple times.
  • If the course was for on demand CLE, there is a box to check.
  • If the course was an online Webcast, there is a box to check.
  • For speaker/teaching credits that are approved for double credit, there is a box to check.
  • If you'd like, you may also enter any notes into the Notes field. Notes will only be viewed by you, and will only be displayed when you view or edit the individual CLE.
  • Once you've completed all fields of a self-reported CLE, press 'Save entry' to add this new CLE to your history.

How do I edit CLE?

Both approved PINNACLE sponsored CLE and self-reported CLE can be edited, but only self-reported CLE can be deleted.

To edit PINNACLE sponsored CLE:

  • First choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then select the View/edit button.
  • For the PINNACLE sponsored CLE item, click the right Edit button to modify this events detail.
  • It’s required that you enter the location of the event for Board of Bar Examiners reporting. The State Bar does not track locations on the CLE attendance. If this was a Webcast there is a check box for this event type that doesn’t have a location.
  • You may also change the CLE or EPR hours that you attended. When PINNACLE sponsored CLE is first created, the hours displayed for CLE and EPR hours are the maximum hours available for that event. If you did not attend the full event, you will need to manually change these hours accordingly.
  • Notes may be entered into the Notes field. This will only be viewed by you and displayed when you edit the individual CLE.
  • When you have finished modifying press the ‘Save changes’ button.

To edit self-reported CLE:

  • First choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then select the View/edit button.
  • For the self-reported CLE item, click the right Edit button to modify this events detail.
  • You may modify any of the available fields for self-reported CLE.
  • When you have finished making changes be sure to press the 'Save changes' button.

To delete self-reported CLE, press the 'Delete' button to the right of the CLE item.

How do I enter in Teaching/Speaker or approved Authoring CLE?

PINNACLE sponsored CLE for attendance of CLE events will only be automatically listed in CLE Tracker. If you have earned credits for speaking at a PINNACLE Seminar event this will need to be added as a self-reported CLE item.

Non-State Bar approved teaching, speaking, or authoring credits from other providers must be tracked separately as self-report CLE. Attendance credits for an event where you were teaching or speaking should also be recorded as a separate self-reported CLE item.

To enter self-reported Teaching or Speaker CLE:

  • First choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then select the View/edit button.
  • In the Self-reported CLE section, press the 'Create new' button.
  • Enter the title, the date and location of the CLE event attended.
  • Enter the sponsor name, and select the type of sponsor they are.
  • In participant type you will want to select the Speaker/Teaching type.
  • Enter in the CLE and/or EPR hours that spoke for.
  • For speaker/teaching credits that are approved for double credit, check the ‘Non-law school teaching credit’ option. Otherwise if not approved for double credit leave this option un-checked.
  • If you'd like, you may also enter any notes into the Notes field. Notes will only be viewed by you, and will only be displayed when you view or edit the individual CLE.
  • Once you've completed all fields of a self-reported CLE, press 'Save entry' to add this new CLE to your history.

To enter self-reported Authoring CLE:

NOTE: Authoring credits must be pre-approved with the Board of Bar Examiners by filling a CLE Form 4. Please follow the CLE Form 4 processing steps outlined by the Board of Bar Examiners to achieve these credits.

  • In participant type you will want to select the Author type.
  • Enter in the CLE and/or EPR hours that your legal writing was approved for.
  • If you'd like, you may also enter any notes into the Notes field. Notes will only be viewed by you, and will only be displayed when you view or edit the individual CLE.
  • Once you've completed all fields of a self-reported CLE, press 'Save entry' to add this new CLE to your history.

How do I print out my CLE history to attach to my Form 1?

First choose a reporting period or date range under View/edit my CLE history, then select the View/edit button. At the top of your View/edit CLE history window press the ‘View CLE Report ’ button. Please review the displayed information for accuracy. If you need to edit or add CLE please follow those instructions above.

To print your reviewed credit listing, press the 'Print CLE Report' button. You should then be prompted to select a printer to print your report to. If you are not, you can select File > Print from your browser.

If you would like to print a report for your own records that includes published legal writing and pending hours, you can instead click on the 'view all credits by type' link.

What if my CLE is not listed here?

All PINNACLE sponsored CLE will automatically be added to CLE Tracker. CLE will first display as Pending CLE, within 1 business day of registration. Once the Board of Bar Examiners has approved the CLE, which is usually within 30 days of the event, it will be moved to the Approved CLE listing. During this time, the event may disappear from CLE Tracker, but it will appear again under Approved within 6 hours. PINNACLE sponsored CLE OnDemand viewed on WisBar is usually added within 24 hours of viewing the event.

If you believe that it is time for your Pending CLE to be displayed, you can contact Customer Service to confirm the status of your registration.

If you believe that it is time for Pending CLE to be listed as Approved CLE, you may want to access the Board of Bar Examiner's searchable database of approved CLE courses. If the course is listed here, you can contact Customer Service to check on the status of your PINNACLE sponsored CLE.

If your CLE was not sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin, but was approved for credit by the Board of Bar Examiners, you'll need to add the course as a self-reported CLE. Credit information for most CLE can be accessed via the Board of Bar Examiner's searchable database of approved CLE courses.
